THE ERA OF ROGER FEDERER by Sander Collewijn

A PERSONAL TRIBUTE TO THE GREATEST TENNIS PLAYER OF ALL TIME

200 pp – June 2023 – Sample translation available

His elegant game, years of dominance, innovation on the tennis court and struggles with his great competitors — no one has meant more to tennis than Federer. He transformed the sport and inspired millions of tennis fans for more than two decades. He topped the ATP rankings for 310 weeks, including 237 weeks in a row. During Federer’s career, he earned a staggering 120 million euros in prize money. The king of Wimbledon —12 finals, eight titles — was unbeatable at the ATP tournaments for years.

Now that Federer retired from tennis, Collewijn goes in search of the answer to why Federer has fascinated us all these years. He analyses the Swiss’s technique, takes us to important wins and losses in his career and gets inside the mind of the gentleman tennis player. He also tries to play, move, and think like Federer, which turns out to be impossible.

‘With fine pen, Collewijn places events in greater perspective.’ – Trouw
