BETTER THAN THE REAL THING

Two-Book Deal Sold to Harper Collins Australia (HQ). Publishing Christmas 2025. Winner of the 2024 Romance Writers of Australia Opal Award. Winner of the ‘Editors Choice’ New Zealand Romance Writers Great Beginnings Prize 2025. Finalist, The Emily 2025.
When Melbourne teacher Netta Phillips stumbles upon the childhood diary of Morrison “Mo” Maplestone—a celebrity clinging to the wreckage of his fading fame—she has no idea it’ll catapult her into the most chaotic, unexpected, heart-thumping adventure of her life. Mo will do anything to keep the diary’s dark secret buried, even if it means paying Netta to return it to him in London. But Netta has her own reasons for staying far away from London and wants nothing to do with celebrities, especially after a scandalous affair with her high-profile boss left her reputation in tatters.
But when her life spectacularly implodes, Netta takes Mo’s offer—and walks straight into his world of paparazzi, glittering galas, and complicated charm. Sparks fly, secrets unravel, and between the awkward near-kisses, drunken confessions, and one unforgettable Christmas Eve gala, they find themselves tangled in something real. But falling for a man like Mo comes with baggage, and Netta’s not sure her heart—or her sanity—can handle it.
Better Than the Real Thing is a whip-smart, hilarious, and emotionally charged Christmas Rom Com about messy pasts, second chances, and the unexpected love that crashes in when you’re busy running the other way.
