THE AUSTEN ACADEMY: Lizzie

The Austen Academy reimagines Jane Austen's most iconic heroines in a modern-day, elite British school.
I'm pleased to present to you The Austen Academy, an exciting new project that reinvents the world of Jane Austen in a modern day preparatory school in England.
The first book Lizzie, an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, will be published by J'ai Lu in September, followed by an adaptation of Emma in the spring of 2026. Other books will follow if things go as well as they are expected to.
All of Jane Austen's characters go to the same school and so they appear in each book, a little bit how it works in Bridgerton.
I represent the authors and although they are French they write under the pseudonym Victoria Bath. They have already created this website and have built a following of 35 000 on Instagram.
Across these books, Austen’s heroines navigate a world of likes, stories, and private messages, while navigating the timeless challenges of love, friendship, and self-discovery. Their stories intertwine, creating a rich picture of modern high school life while remaining true to the spirit of Jane Austen.
While each book is an adaptation of a Jane Austen novel featuring the well-known protagonists, all of Jane Austen’s heroines are present in each book as they attend to the same school. So, Emma is a secondary character in the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Elizabeth Bennett is a secondary character in the adaptation of Emma.
Lizzie: Elizabeth Bennett, a brilliant student, is wrong about the mysterious William Darcy. She has let herself be influenced by false rumors on social media and George Wickham’s manipulations. Their love story begins amidst misunderstandings and prejudices, culminating at the Christmas Ball.
Emma: Emma Woodhouse takes center stage. A popular influencer, she creates a dating app for the high school, playing the modern matchmaker. Her arrogance leads her to errors of judgment, particularly concerning her own love life and that of her friend Harriet. Elizabeth appears as a confidant and voice of reason, with Elinor.
Behind the pseudonym Victoria Bath lie two women. Virginie Lominet, a ghostwriter, is passionate about classic and contemporary literature, and, of course, Jane Austen for as long as she can remember. Since her early days in publishing, she has been supported and advised by Suzon Brûlon. She is an editor herself, a globetrotter in her spare time, and an avid reader of Jane Austen.
