THE GIRLS IN THE CABIN by Caleb Stephens

For fans of Dean Koontz, Gregg Hurwitz, John Marrs, James Patterson, Harlan Coben, Linwood Barclay, Lisa Jackson, Taylor Adams and Stephen King’s Misery

They find a cabin in the woods and think they’re finally safe. Little do they know, their nightmare is only just beginning.

This camping trip is Chris’s last chance to save his family. His wife is dead and neither of his daughters, teenager Kayla and nine-year-old Emma, are on speaking terms with him – Emma still traumatised by her mother’s death, and Kayla still upset after having found out about her father’s affair, which he never confessed to his wife. Chris hopes that nature will facilitate some bonding and help them all move forward.

Things go wrong as soon as they get to the mountains. Emma suffers from a bad leg injury and a freak snowstorm rolls in. They must find shelter, fast.

They think they’ve found sanctuary when they come across an old farmstead. Clara, the woman that lives there with her son, seems friendly and caring. She even looks like their mum, thinks Kayla, or at least that’s what Emma sees, in her now feverish state. She needs urgent medical help.

But the storm has them completely isolated, the house phone lines are dead, and Clara doesn’t even have a mobile phone. There is something strange about her, and that place. And is there someone else living there, in the shadows?

There was a girl in the cabin once. She never grew up.

And she won’t let them leave…

Set in the stunning wilderness of the Colorado Flat Tops, this dark and gritty thriller packed with shocking twists will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you question everything you think you know about family.
