I DON’T LIKE CHEESE
This delightful picture book explores how even the fussiest eaters can be tempted to try new flavours. Author Hannah Chandler was just 11 years old when she wrote the story. Now aged 12, she already has ideas for a sequel.
“This is about a mouse called Mike, who is a fusspot and won’t eat the cheese that his mum gives him. Ashley is a little girl who gives Mike food each night. She gives him tacos and pizza and pies, but one day she goes on holiday and Mike gets so hungry he has to eat cheese. The best bit is when he refuses to eat the cake made out of cheese for his birthday. I also like the bit when he decides he likes cheese and realises that lots of things Ashely gives him have some cheese in them, like pizza. It is ridiculous mice always like cheese. I liked the picture of their house. This book made me happy because I liked it. I keep I Don’t Like Cheese with my special things”. - Jasper, aged 5, in School’s Out: a supplement that appears in The West Australian.
