Reviews and attention are also now coming in for next month’s NOOKIETOWN by V.C. Chickering with Library Journal saying “Chickering holds nothing back in this debut that can only be described as a Fifty Shades of Grey for the married and divorced set. Sure to be a hit among women seeking a feisty, thrilling, and risqué read.”
And Kirkus has reviewed and says, “With vivid characters, quick dialogue, and over-the-top situations, Chickering's debut novel alternates between moments of true hilarity and deep introspection.” That full review is here:
Parade Magazine has choosen Nookietown as a February Pick, and Popsugar names the book as one of their best reads of Winter 2016: “Nookietown is a laugh-out-loud story about marriage, fidelity, and honesty.” See that here: http://www.popsugar.com/love/photo-gallery/39048358/image/39048614/Nookietown-VC-Chickering-Out-Feb-23

NOOKIETOWN by V.C. Chickering is a funny, emotional and at times racy novel where suburban, long-time married wives sub-contract local divorcees to have sex with their husbands so they don’t have to as often, using a barter system they invent themselves.
NOOKIETOWN is the story of two friends—Lucy, divorced, and Nancy, long-time married, and what happens when Nancy asks Lucy to sleep with her husband to save the marriage. Together they discover that most of the wives in town are bored of having sex with their husbands. It seems they wish someone else would jump in once and a while and take up the slack, someone they could trust to not break up their marriage but occasionally satisfy the imbalance of desire. The husbands in town would give anything for a little sexual variety, and the divorcees in town are crazy-horny but striking out online and don’t want a serious commitment.
Lucy, Nancy and their friends embark on a barter business arrangement with other adventurous wives and divorcees in town wherein the wives sub-contract the divorcees of their choosing to sleep with their husbands. The divorcees are vetted to make sure they have no interest in breaking up marriages and the wives get to decide how often, with whom, and what will and won’t transpire. It’s a win-win-win. For a little while, until things quickly get very, very complicated!
This is a racy romp that pushes buttons. It's about married sex, divorced sex, monogamy, infidelity, truth, desire and shifting allegiances between friends. But most importantly, it's funny. Ask yourself, “Would I sign up for The Program?” No way or maybe? Then ask your friends if they would. Your friends may surprise you. You will definitely surprise yourself.
V.C. Chickering has written for Comedy Central, MTV, Lifetime, TLC, Discovery, NickMom and Oxygen television networks as well as for BUST, Cosmo, and The Washington Post magazines. She’s written screenplays; has a local newspaper column entitled, Pith Monger; and the blog: vickichicki.blogspot.com. NOOKIETOWN is her first novel.
This is super fun and super sexy women’s fiction, and Lucy is a smart and hilarious character who gets herself into cringe worthy situations as her moral compass goes haywire. When she finally gets exactly what she wants it might at the cost of the comfortable life she made for herself. Reader’s will laugh and cheer along with Lucy.
