One Man, Thirty Thousand Dogs and a Million Miles on the Last Hope Highway
Twice a month, Greg Mahle leaves his home in Ohio in a 12-wheel rig bound for the rural South, where he rescues abused and abandoned dogs and brings them to loving “forever homes.” In this inspiring book, journalist Peter Zheutlin interweaves Greg’s experiences with the heartwarming stories of the dogs and the families who adopt them. This dramatic, uplifting account shines a spotlight on critical issues facing dogs and people (like canine overpopulation) and shows how love and a little luck can be the difference between grief and hope for these dogs—and for us all.
