Since her appointment in 2009, at age 42, to fill Hillary Rodham Clinton's New York Senate seat when Clinton was appointed Secretary of State, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has established herself as a passionate, fearless, and laser-focused presence in Congress. The granddaughter and daughter of two trail-blazing feminists, Gillibrand is a fierce advocate for getting women involved in the issues that matter most to them and making their voices heard; in 2011, she formed a PAC, Off The Sidelines, with that very mission in mind. And as a wife and mother to two young sons, she's a role model to working moms everywhere. Her book will pull all of these themes together, blending personal stories about her career, marriage, friendships, and family with inspiring advice, and delivering it all in her signature sharp, honest, and refreshingly relatable voice.

Key Selling Points:

Gillbrand has appeared on The TODAY Show, Good Morning America, Fox and Friends, CBS This Morning, The View, Katie, ESPN, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, World News with Diane Sawyer, CBS Evening News, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Meet the Press, Face the Nation, Morning Joe, CNBC Squawk Box, Hardball with Chris Matthews, Politics Nation with Rev. Al Sharpton, and the Rachel Maddow Show, among others. HOT TOPIC. As evidenced by hits like LEAN IN and BOSSYPANTS, women are hungry for personal stories from powerful women and advice on navigating careers, managing relationships, and juggling all the facets of a busy, happy life. Gillibrand's message is unique because she focuses on how to improve the lives of women of all walks of life, not just those vying for the corner office, by running for office, speaking up at a city council meeting, joining the PTA, or voting on an issue that affects families.

CHAMPION OF WOMEN'S AND FAMILY ISSUES: In Congress, Gillibrand's causes have included repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell, 9/11 health-care legislation, affordable childcare, fighting food stamp cuts, sexual assault in the military, and creating jobs for returning vets.

A magna cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College in 1988, SENATOR GILLIBRAND went on to receive her law degree from the UCLA School of Law in 1991 and served as a law clerk on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. After working as an attorney in New York City for more than a decade, Gillibrand served as Special Counsel to United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Andrew Cuomo during the Clinton Administration, then as an attorney in Upstate New York before serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New York's 20th Congressional District, which spanned 10 counties in upstate New York. Gillibrand was first sworn in as United States Senator from New York in January 2009, filling Hillary Rodham Clinton's seat. In November 2012, she was elected to her first six-year Senate term with 72 percent of the vote, winning 60 of New York's 62 counties. She lives in Troy, NY, with her husband, Jonathan, and two young sons.

With Off the Sidelines, Gillibrand shows that it's not about getting to the top, or choosing between career and family—it's simply about getting involved. In politics, in our communities, or simply mentoring somebody: When women work together, we all win.”

—Arianna Huffington

She is a beautiful example of what we can become when we are true to ourselves, and brave enough to let our voices be heard. This book is intimately honest and deeply insightful. It should be on every girl's and every woman's reading list, and every boy's and man's too."
